Welcome to my blog! I'm a dedicated art dabbler whose motto is: "A Little Color Every Day." Many of the postings on this blog are digital collages I've created for various online art challenges. I also love to do art journaling, rubber stamp carving, mixed media collage, sketching, doodling, portrait drawing, decorative lettering, iPad art, and assorted other happy pursuits. I've recently started showing some of my mixed media art on this blog. I have also led Gelli Plate Printing workshops here in Columbia, Maryland.
NOTE: All of the artwork posted here is the property of its creator, Sherry Pollack. Please do not use any image unless you have my specific permission. I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Take a Word challenge theme this week is "manuscripts," inspired by the concept of palimpsests, which are writing materials (such as a parchment or tablet) used one or more times after earlier writing has been erased.

Earlier this year I was contacted by a woman from the San Diego Automotive Museum. They were planning a "steampunk"- themed exhibit for June, and she had come across a steampunk digital collage of mine on my blog. She asked if they could make a poster from it to decorate the wall of the exhibit. I agreed. She has just sent me photos of the exhibit. You can see my poster in the center of the first photo below (the poster that says "She worried they might fly too close to the sun.").
We happen to be going to San Diego in December, and we were invited to stop by the museum. We'll even receive guest passes for our visit!
It's my turn again to host the Collage Obsession challenge. I chose an owl theme. Please visit the CO blog, see what others have submitted, and even maybe participate with your own owl collage. We'd love to see you there! It can be paper or digital- any type of art is acceptable.

Looks like some stripey, winged, funky Zetti characters are working at the circus these days (at least for now). Image credits for this digital collage: holliewood, krysty, tumblefish studio, joessistah, artfreebies, eena's creation, rucola designs.
A very original theme this week for the Sunday Postcard Art challenge: Flappers. They were before my time, of course, but a Google search of images produced a vintage Life magazine cover image of a flapper wearing butterfly wings. I altered it using some other colors and blending modes, and a yellow tulip image from Peggy Gatto. Here she is!
Collage Obsession has an interesting and challenging theme for us this week. Wikipedia defines this terms as follows: Anthropomorphism is an attribution of human characteristics to other
animals, non-living things. Examples include animals and plants and
forces of nature such as wind, rain or the sun.
Here's my "anthropomorphized plant" digital collage. Image credits: anna corba, holliewood, deviant scrap.
This month's challenge over at Soartful has a "Magic Garden" theme, with colors of fuchsia, lime green, purple, and turquoise. My collage below is a digital one based on my own "hands-on" drawing and painting. I first drew the floral pattern in black and white, scanned it, and filled it with color and my own stamped and stenciled patterns. Such fun!!! Like a coloring book for grownups...
