It's my turn again to host the Collage Obsession challenge. I've asked participants to create a collage depicting a view they would love to see outside their window--a fantasy view or one based on reality. Here's my digital collage, below. I used a photo I took of the Grand Teton Mountains; and added some flowers and butterflies in the foreground, and a soft rainbow in the sky. Image credits for the flowers: last door down the hall.
This week we were asked to create art combining elements of our previous art works. My circus performers looked like they would absolutely love to be dancing among the planets! It's titled "Celestial Circus."
I don't often post on this blog the work I create for the weekly Digitalmania Flickr challenge, hosted by the hard-working and talented Marie from Australia (Ozstuff). We are challenged each week to create digital art inspired by the style of a particular artist. This week's artist is a Russian photographer from Moscow, Katya Rashkevich. (Here's a link to some of her work: http://www.panoplya.com/blog/en/2011/07/17/ethereal-photography-by-katya-rashkevich/ ).
Here's what I created. Image credits: Holliewood Studios, alldigitaldownload.com. The woman is from a J. Jill catalog.
Kaylene at Collage Obsession has chosen a fascinating theme for us this week: "Renaissance Woman." I chose to do a little research and created a digital collage featuring three self-portraits by the Renaissance artist Sofonisba Anguissola (c. 1532 –1625), an ItalianRenaissance painter born in Cremona. According to Wikipedia, "she received a well-rounded education that included the fine arts and her apprenticeship with local painters set a precedent for women to be accepted as students of art."
The youthful, wide-eyed self-portrait of Anguissola shown on the lower left of my digital collage was painted in 1554. The image above that (depicting her in the act of creating art) was painted in 1556. The image of her as an older woman (lower right) was painted in 1610.
Our very talented new Design Team member, Sheila (also known as Orange Osmeralda) has posted her first Soartful challenge today, for the month of September. Welcome, Sheila! The theme of "a single flower" is to be interpreted in a minimalist style. Here's my digital collage, using a sunflower image adapted from joessistah, and several different Photoshop Elements effects.
The challenge at Collage Obsession this week has a friendship theme. Friendship quotes were provided for inspiration. I based my digital collage on one of the quotes, as shown below. Image credits: Holliewood, Lisa's Altered Art, Tumblefish Studio.
I am dedicating this collage to all of my online art challenge friends, who accompany me each week on such fun, creative rides!
