Our challenge this week was to use a postage stamp image in some way. One of the suggestions was to create a "postage stamp person." I'd never heard of this, but my imagination took hold and this digital collage is what I came up with. I used a postage stamp image of an exotic young woman from Google Images (shown below), and gave her a pretty setting to relax in and a skirt to match her outfit. Every week I participate in a digital art challenge on Flickr run by the energetic and super-creative Marie (Ozstuff) from Australia. We create art in the style of a particular artist. Most of the artists I am not familiar with. In addition, many of the styles are way outside my comfort zone, so these challenges are often quite a creative stretch for me--which is good! Here are some of my latest pieces. You can Google the artist's name to see what they've created in their signature style. If you'd like to see more of my Digitalmania pieces, there's a link to my Flickr site on the left side of this blog.
For
the house in this digital collage, I used a picture from a book of
black and white Baltimore rowhouse drawings by J.S. Fuqua. I added backgrounds, textures, colors and patterns; and finally the image of the woman from Pringle Hill Studio. Other image credits: deviant scrap, media militia, dover designs.
Another steampunk challenge! You can go to http://jeanette-soartfulchallenges.blogspot.com/ to visit the Soartful site and participate, or just look at the other entries. Here's my digital collage (image credits upon request):
I used an image of tulips provided by Collage Obsession for this challenge. Here's the image provided:
And here's my digital collage, inspired by the "dancing" poses of the tulips. The dancers are from graphicsfairy; the abstract background design is my own.
A fun and unusual theme for "Take a Word" this week: Peacock! This digital collage started with a black and white calligraphic drawing of a peacock from Graphics Fairy. I went wild adding my own original patterns (from scanned painted pages), and at the last-minute gave her a Mother's Day greeting to hold (she looked like she wanted to hold a sign). So, I wish a very Happy Mother's Day to all mothers, and also to those amazing women who support friends and relatives in their mothering efforts. We couldn't do it without you!
Steampunk is an ever-popular challenge theme! Here's my take on it for this week's SPA challenge. Image credits: graphicsfairy, dover, milla, holliewood, SJD, obsidian dawn, deviant scrap.
Our challenge this week was to create a piece showing vintage glamour. I chose to use three images from vintage Photoplay magazine covers (magazineart.org). The curtains are from Fiddlette designs.
I thought this digital collage would be appropriate today because we just returned from a trip to Austin, Texas, to visit our son. Image credits: artefacts.
