Three Muses: Postage Stamps

Our challenge this week was to use a postage stamp image in some way. One of the suggestions was to create a "postage stamp person." I'd never heard of this, but my imagination took hold and this digital collage is what I came up with.  I used a postage stamp image of an exotic young woman from Google Images (shown below), and gave her a pretty setting to relax in and a skirt to match her outfit. Recent Digitalmania Challenges

Every week I participate in a digital art challenge on Flickr run by the energetic and super-creative Marie (Ozstuff) from Australia. We create art in the style of a particular artist.  Most of the artists I am not familiar with. In addition, many of the styles are way outside my comfort zone, so these challenges are often quite a creative stretch for me--which is good! Here are some of my latest pieces. For the house in this digital collage, I used a picture from a book of black and white Baltimore rowhouse drawings by J.S. Fuqua. Take a Word: Peacock

A fun and unusual theme for "Take a Word" this week: Peacock! This digital collage started with a black and white calligraphic drawing of a peacock from Graphics Fairy. I went wild adding my own original patterns (from scanned painted pages), and at the last-minute gave her a Mother's Day greeting to hold (she looked like she wanted to hold a sign). So, I wish a very Happy Mother's Day to all mothers, and also to those amazing women who support friends and relatives in their mothering efforts. We couldn't do it without you!
