Article in Art Journaling Magazine!
I'm extremely proud that an article I wrote, and accompanying art, was just published in the Oct/Nov/Dec issue of Art Journaling Magazine. The magazine is at Barnes and Noble and some of the larger craft stores. As a bonus, my name is mentioned on the cover!

Tutorial: Extending a Photo With a Personal Touch
I promised to post some free tutorials here, and this is the first one. In 2015 an art journal page of mine was published by North Light in the Book Art Journal Kickstarter. The publisher later asked each artist featured in the book to submit a photo tutorial about the technique they used in their art piece.
I wrote about extending a photo with a personal touch. This involves placing a photo on a journal page and extending the image (e.g., scenery) onto the surrounding page with paint, colored pencils, markers, pen and ink, etc.
My tutorial was published on the Create Mixed Media blog, and later shared by the Cloth Paper Scissors blog. You can find it at http://www.createmixedmedia.com/make/extending-a-photo-with-personal-touch . Below are two before-and-after photos from the tutorial.
Thanks for stopping by!

Article in Somerset Studio!
I feel so honored that an article I wrote, with accompanying artwork, appears in the upcoming issue of Somerset Studio magazine, available July 1 in major bookstores and craft stores. The cover and my two (amateur) photos of the article are shown below. Even when I'm looking at the pages, I still can hardly believe this!

Updates
Hello, out there!
I have a very belated publishing update. It's not like me to forget these kinds of things!:)
Below are some photos of a mixed-media Hanukkah shadow-box book I created last year. It appeared in the November/December 2016 issue of Somerset Studio magazine. I've submitted other pieces since then, so...we'll see what happens!
I would love to get comments from readers to see who is still checking in, and what kinds of things they might want to see on this blog. I am pretty much exclusively creating "hands-on" art now, rather than digital (although I do combine the two sometimes). I love to share techniques with others, so I'm planning to post some technique tutorials here at some point. It would be a good way for me to keep a record of some of the techniques I've learned recently, and presented to the Artful Journaling club I belong to. And the tutorials might give others some helpful art tips. So please stop by often!
