So-artful Challenge: Georgia O'Keeffe

This week's challenge is to create something inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe. The color scheme suggestions were "sepia or dark tones, or floral theme/colors." I chose to create a floral piece in dark and dramatic tones. I achieved this effect by digitally layering an image of a rose with three backgrounds of my own creation. You can click on the title of this blog posting, above, to visit the So-artful blog and participate in the challenge.

Three Muses: Ooo La La!

This week we were challenged to create a French-themed piece. Below is my digital collage of a certain Queen of France who allegedly encouraged the peasants who didn't have bread... to eat cake instead.

Collage Obsession: Elephant

The elephant image in this digital collage was originally a black and white image from Search Press, that I altered and colored in Photoshop Elements. The lady, fan, and columned background are from Finecrafted Designs. The shadowy arch surrounding the central images is from a photo I took at Caesarea, a Roman ruin in Israel.

Take a Word: Moo/ Vintage

Our challenge this week was to create a vintage-style piece of art in "Moo" format. What is a Moo, you ask?  According to the challenge instructions, a  Moo is a tiny card - template measurement 1.10 x 2.80 inches (2.79 x 7.11 mm) or thereabouts. I believe it's about half the size of a business card. For my digital collage, below, I created and displayed three "Moos" in a vintage lady-and-flowers theme.

Three Muses: Animal Kingdom

Our challenge was to "alter" at least one animal.  This reminded me that a giraffe friend of mine recently expressed the wish for a wardrobe change. Image credits: holliewood, dezinaworld, flickr creative commons/pareerica, cemerony graphicsfairy; background is mine.

Inspiration Avenue: Butterflies

This digital collage was inspired by a trip we took last fall to the Butterfly Garden display in Wheaton, Maryland. The background is from a photo I took there, as is the sign (to which I added the "please" and "thank you"). And a very pleasant woman who worked there did, in fact, check us for hitchhiking butterflies before we left!
