Here's my rather irreverent take on this week's "Angel" theme.

So-artful Challenge: Ceil Chapman Inspired
This is a serendipitous challenge for me! We were challenged to create art inspired by the 1950's fashion designer Ceil Chapman, using pink, black, and/or silver. I was not familiar with her name, so of course turned to the Internet for guidance and found some lovely photos of her fashions. And since I'm in the middle of Jane Davenport's online class, I "Heart" Drawing (where we're learning some elements of fashion figure drawing as a supplement to one of her earlier classes), I was inspired to create my own little sketch of a vintage Ceil Chapman dress. There are touches of silver in the trim of the dress, although they don't show up well on the scan.

Collage Obsession: Trio
I guess I'm thinking about sisters today! (I'm always thinking of my own sweet sister. Hi, I!) The trio of girls here (altered by me) is from Pringle Hill Studio.

Sunday Postcard Art: Hanukkah Wish
The theme for this week's challenge was "Christmas Fairy." Since I don't celebrate Christmas, and fairies aren't part of Hanukkah tradition, I created a Hanukkah card featuring a girl happily awaiting the Festival of Lights. The girl is from my original sketch. I wish everyone a very happy holiday season!

Collage Obsession: Pattern Play
This week it's my turn again to host the Collage Obsession challenge (http://collageobsessionchallenge.blogspot.com/). The theme I've chosen is "Pattern Play." Participants are challenged to incorporate one or more patterns ("man-made" or natural) in their collages, hopefully using them in some unexpected ways. Here are my two patterned digital collages:

Collage Obsession: Science
We were given a photo of Albert Einstein as inspiration for this challenge. I've made him into an astronaut, using the galaxies for his chalkboard (the astronaut was my idea; the rest was suggested by my engineer husband, Nelson). Image credits: NASA photos, iktupilli, holliewood.

Sunday Postcard Art: Poppies
The theme of poppies is in honor of Veteran's Day (U.S.) and Remembrance Day (British Commonwealth), both observed on November 11.
Image credits for this digital collage are: Chinese poppy photo by Ryan Pollack; woman by Stampington; red patterned background image by graphics fairy; border by Hero Arts.
Take a Word: Moonstruck
Marie gave me the honor of hosting the coming week's TAW challenge. My digital collage is shown below. The eye was from original art I painted in Golden fluid acrylics; the celestial background is from Google images; the moon is from paperrelics; and the heart is from Photoshop elements. The star digital brushes are from obsidian dawn.

Digitalmania Challenge: Art in the style of Michelle Caplan
For this weekly Flickr challenge, in which we've been creating digital art in the style of various artists; this week's choice is Michelle Caplan, a mixed media artist in the U.S. She combines vintage photos, newsprint, and papers/fabrics. Here's a link to her beautiful artwork: http://www.michellecaplan.com/ . She also has an Etsy shop.
I had a blast doing my digital collage! Some background info is below.
This is a heritage collage, featuring an old photo of my Aunt Mynne (left) and my Mom (right) doing their very entertaining version of the old song "Egyptian Ella." They performed this with gusto and much laughter at many a family gathering. Thanks to the Internet, I found the lyrics! In the background, there's a photo of my father on the mantel, and a painting of me and my twin sister (painted by my mother) on the wall behind her.

Collage Obsession: Dream/Nightmare
We were challenged to illustrate a dream or nightmare that we've had. I have a recurring dream (not too often, thankfully) that I'm wandering around a huge parking lot unable to find my car. The dream seems to go on forever, and when I wake up I can still feel some of the anxiety from the dream. This collage represents what it feels like.

Take a Word: Childhood
Collage Obsession: Alter Egos
I was recently invited to be a member of the creative team on the Collage Obsession challenge blog! This week is my first turn at posting a challenge.
The challenge topic I came up with is "Alter Egos." The premise is that most people at some time in their lives (even if it's only on Halloween) dream of being someone else. The challenge is to illustrate what you think a particular person (or animal) really wants to be. You can visit the Collage Obsession blog and see my complete posting at http://collageobsessionchallenge.blogspot.com/.
Below is my interpretation of the challenge, using an image of two Japanese women from Dover Designs. Other image credits: beth rimmer, joessistah, plaisanter.

Collage Obsession: Masks
This is one of my favorite themes, especially since I recently created an altered book with a "Masks" theme and have several digital collages on hand that I used for that project. Here's one that incorporates my original drawing, with a mask image added (sorry, I don't recall the source of that image).

Inspiration Avenue: Owls
I had already completed most of this piece, including the owl in the tree, after doing the watercolor sketch of the lady with red flowers in Jane Davenport's online "Supplies Me" class. I then found the quote (an English nursery rhyme, I believe) for this challenge. Other image credits: graphicsfairy, rubyblossom.
