Collage Obsession: Number 13

Our inspiration this week was to use the "unlucky" number 13 as our collage theme. My digital piece was inspired by ancient maps showing the fearsome creatures that a traveler might encounter in those times.

Take a Word: Album

I took the opportunity of this week's "Album" theme to create another digital heritage-themed collage. The background paper, label, and journaling background are from alluneed. I am almost positive the picture was taken by my father.

Sunday Postcard Art and Gothic Arch Challenges

The Sunday Postcard Art theme this week is Autumn Leaves, and Gothic Arch's is... Autumn. Hmmm, wonder why? :)  The digital collage above is for both challenges. Happy Autumn, everyone! I wish Autumn would stay forever and we'd never have to get into...(ugh) Winter.

Nostalgic Collage: Gothic Arch/Vintage Image

http://nostalgiccollage.blogspot.com/
There's a "new" (or rather, renewed) challenge in town! The challenge this week was to create a collage using a Gothic arch image and a vintage image. Here's my digital collage contribution.

Take a Word: Male

Few people are aware that famous circus strongman "Mighty Joe" McGraw had a soft spot in his mighty heart for his pet owl, whom he took everywhere (Oscar even had his own little matching set of luggage!).

Sunday Postcard Art: Pierrot

A Pierrot is a stock character of pantomime and Commedia dell'Arte whose origins are in the late 17th-century Italian troupe of players performing in Paris and known as the Comédie-Italienne.

Collage Obsession: Peace

This is such an appropriate theme for the anniversary of 9/11. To me, it is inexpressibly sad that peace is so elusive. But I can express my own hope, in the collage below.

Sunday Postcard Art: "Pink"

The sketch of the young lady is my original art. The background is a digital collage I did for the recent "Summer of Color" challenge using pink. It includes a scan of a hand-textured journal cover I once made, and bird images from graphicsfairy.

Three Muses Challenge: Words

This week's challenge was to use words in any way we wished. Here's a quote I really like. Coincidentally, it concerns COLOR, something else I really like :). Credit for crayon image: Wikimedia Commons.

Inspiration Avenue: Patterns

please click on photo for larger view
This piece may look like it "means" something heavy, but really I was just playing with patterns and shapes. The horizontal curved stripes are from a photo I took of the inside of the Guggenheim Museum in NYC. The diamond grid pattern is from a photo I took of an iron cafe chair in San Antonio. Part of the grid is filled with a pattern from a Hero Arts stone carving image. The outline of the "martial arts" fighting woman is from Broderbund Clip Art, and her lined crumpled notebook paper texture is from grungetextures. I like the contrast between her strong stance and the more fragile paper.

Collage Obsession: Sloth

Rick is continuing with his seven deadly sins theme. This week is "sloth." As you can see, I've created quite a lazy group here.
