Last night we went to a Candlelight Concert Series performance at a historic church in nearby Ellicott City (St. John's Episcopal Church). The lovely Beethoven pieces played by the Artemis Quartet, and the striking red and white stenciled walls and arches against which the scene was set, inspired me to create this little "Music Collage" today. I'm also posting a photo we took a few years ago at a concert in the same church, so you can see the beautiful color and design. |

Rainforest
Yesterday a group of my Artful Journaling classmates got together to try some image transfer techniques. We had more success with packing tape transfers than other methods (such as gel medium transfers), but had plenty of fun and laughs trying. At home, I put together my most successful transfer attempts on two pages of one of my own journals, shown here. I then used Stickles glue accents, gel pens, PanPastels, and painted paper towels/ baby wipes for additional accents. Kind of messy, but such fun-- and satisfyingly different than most of my other art!

Creating Space
This is an art journal 2-page spread that I started while snowbound, in a 7x5 watercolor journal that I have. (No, I was not snowbound in the actual journal, although it kind of felt that way sometimes). My goal for this journal to incorporate a quotation or interesting thought on each page. For the background on these two pages, I used Golden fluid acrylic paints, in various combinations with glazing medium and iridescent medium. I used stencils, markers, gel pens, and Pitt pens to create the text and designs. (Please click on photos for a close-up view.)
